Perlite – 100 g

Expanded perlite is a natural product made from volcanic silicates exposed to very high temperatures.

Properties

• Provides aeration,
• Retains water,
• Lowers substrate density
• Neutral pH
• Sterile
• Total pore volume: 95% by volume
• Air capacity: 65% by volume
• Grain size: 3–6 mm
• Electrical conductivity: 3–5 µS/cm
• pH: 6–7

Because it retains water and nutrients while also aerating the roots, expanded perlite has special properties that make it ideal for adding to substrates.

Application

Substrate component – mix perlite (5–10%) with other substrates: peat, coco fibre, etc.
