What is the end cap for?

In any NFT hydroponic channel, each pipe has two ends:

• Outlet side — where the top with drain is fitted (nutrient-solution outlet)
• Closed side — where this end cap is fitted, sealing the pipe completely
• Without an end cap, the end is left open, which can cause: nutrient-solution leaks
• Insects and pests getting in
• Roots exposed to light (which inhibits root growth)
• Contamination of the nutrient solution
